Topic: The Evolution of Cell Phones

Description:
Cell phones have come a very long way since they were first sold to the public in 1983 by Motorola. The first cell phone weighed two pounds, cost almost four thousand dollars, and only had about an hour of battery life. The first cell phones were only good for making calls; they could not send texts and were not used to play games like today's phones. The first text message was not sent until 1992.
Cellular phones have become an incredibly useful tool in the IT/ICT fields today. Not only are they a utility for verbal communication between two people, they have evolved into multimedia devices rivaling the power of modern desktop computers and laptops. Today, cell phones offer a way to be constantly connected to a means of communication and social media over WiFi or cellular networks. This presents unique opportunities for IT professionals because it allows them to, among other things, send and receive important files and documents pertaining to their specific area of work. The mass popularity of cellular devices also presents IT professionals with a new job market, as these devices are complicated pieces of technology that require the use of different types wireless signals. Because many people do not fully understand these new technologies, it is up to the IT/ICT professionals to be current with the new technologies and trained so that they can troubleshoot and/or repair the devices when needed.
